A másodosztályú labdarúgó-bajnokság 22. fordulójában a Keleti csoportot vezető Ferencváros a négy gólt szerző Ferenczi István vezérletével hazai pályán sima, 6–1-es győzelmet aratott a mérkőzést tíz emberrel befejező Vác ellen. A meccsen súlyosnak tűnő sérülést szenvedett Dragóner Attila, akit a szünetben mentő szállított kórházba. 

A labdarúgó-másodosztály Keleti csoportjának 22. fordulójában a tavasszal eddig hibátlan teljesítményt nyújtó, éllovas Ferencváros a középmezőnyhöz tartozó Vác csapatát fogadta.

Ez a párharc jó másfél évtizeddel ezelőtt még az élvonalban is rangadónak számított, hiszen az 1993–1994-es kiírásban a Vác nyerte meg a magyar bajnokságot, míg a zöld-fehérek a kupa elhódításával vigasztalódtak.

A jelenlegi bajnokságban nyújtott teljesítmény alapján a Ferencváros számított az esélyesnek, és az Albert-stadionba kilátogató nézőknek nem is kellett sokáig várniuk arra, hogy előnybe kerüljenek a hazaiak.

A találkozó 7. percében ugyanis tizenegyeshez jutott a Fradi, miután Margitics Andor szabálytalankodott a 16-oson belülre betörő Zsivóczky Norberttel szemben. A büntetőt Ferenczi István értékesítette – a csatár jobbal a jobb alsó sarokba lőtt, Horváth Gergely a másik irányba mozdult.

Az első félidő hátralévő részében is Ferenczi játszotta a főszerepet: a támadó még kétszer volt eredményes a szünet előtt. Először a 24. percben értékesítette közelről Samuel Wedgbury beadását, majd húsz perccel később ismét az angol volt a feladó, Ferenczi ekkor szép fejessel volt eredményes.

Az igazsághoz tartozik, hogy a második két Fradi-gól már emberelőnyben született, Ferenczi magánszámát ugyanis megszakította egy kevésbé szép jelenet: Varga Csaba szabálytalankodott Dragóner Attilával szemben, amiért piros lapot kapott, a zöld-fehérek védőjét pedig le kellett cserélni.

3–0-s hazai előnnyel ért tehát véget az első félidő, a szünetben Dragónert mentő szállította kórházba, a védő valószínűleg arccsonttörést szenvedett.

A fordulás után szépítettek a vendégek, Gáspár Endre szépségdíjas gólt ragasztott Holczer Ádám kapujának jobb sarkába – a Fradi kapusa csak kapufára ütni tudta a jó 30 méterről eleresztett bombát, onnan pedig a hálóba pattant a labda.

A hajrához közeledve James Ashmore visszaállította a háromgólos különbséget, a középpályás 25 méterről, szabadrúgásból vette be a Vác kapuját. A végjátékban pedig Ferenczi megszerezte negyedik gólját a mérkőzésen (ezt is büntetőből), valamint a csereként beállt Paul Shaw is eredményes volt – a végeredmény így 6–1-es, kiütéses Ferencváros-siker.

A zöld-fehérek sorozatban tizenegyedik győzelmüket szerezték, és 13 ponttal vezetik a Keleti csoportot.
