Ron Dennis befejezte, a McLaren-Mercedes korábbi főnöke 43 év után távozik a Forma-1-ből.

Dennis januárban mondott le, a jövőben Martin Whitmarsh lesz a McLaren-Mercedes csapatfőnöke.

- Nem lehetett velem könnyű, de mindig a csapatomért harcoltam - írta közleményében Dennis. - Nem hinném, hogy Max Mosley vagy Bernie Ecclestone bánkódna a döntésem miatt, ugyanakkor senki nem kényszerített erre a lépésre, egyedül döntöttem.

Ron Dennis 1981-ben vette át a McLaren csapatvezetői posztját. Irányítása alatt versenyzői tíz egyéni (1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1998, 1999, 2008) és hét konstruktőri (1984, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1998) világbajnoki címet nyertek.
